Welcome!

Welcome to the Bay Area Lactation Associates website. BALA (Bay Area Lactation Associates) has been an active group of Breastfeeding professionals since 1985.  We promote and provide lactation education for those who work with breastfeeding mothers.  We are an affiliate of USLCA the US Lactation Consultant Association and ILCA  the International Lactation Consultant Association.

Lactation Consultants, Educators and others such as La Leche League Leaders, Nursing Mother's Counselors, Nurses, Physicians and related Health Care Providers who are intesested in lactation and in helping mothers and babies breastfeed can join BALA or take advantage of our educational offerings throughout the year.

We provide breastfeeding advocates with resources to help protect and promote breastfeeding in our community.  Both mothers and their babies benefit from breastfeeding, but it isn't always easy, and mothers often have difficulties.  We hope our activities will help expand the knowledge of those who provide support for breastfeeding families in the Bay Area.
